Culture in Transition Pt. 10

There have been times in man’s history that confusion was the norm. Men and women were blind to the times in which they lived. Humanity as a whole had lost its direction. During these times mankind, as a whole, needed to find direction to avoid the consequences that they could not prevent. There are times in each life and the world, as a whole, when there is a need for change. Many individuals are blind to this simple reality. Our world is full of people who have failed to heed the signs of the time. Today’s society is full of confusion because everyone’s personal opinion is more important than coming together for the benefit of all.

God created humanity to one day walk together in unity. Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, shed His blood and gave His life that men everywhere might realize the heart of their Creator. What would our culture be like if each person put others before themselves? How would families and marriages benefit from this change of heart? What impact could this have on current and future generations? The chaos in our communities continues to paralyze future generations at an astounding pace. Something must change! It is evident that this present culture has lost sight of its potential. Can time be redeemed? How many lives can be impacted by a transformed culture?

Again, we must remind ourselves that there is nothing new under the sun. God sent His Son, Jesus, to redeem not only the times but also humanity. One writer penned this prayer:

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land.”

2 Chron. 7:14

This verse references the church, the same church that Jesus testified of before He suffered and died. Jesus promised to build His church. The purpose of the church was to represent heaven on earth.

One of the most incredible things the church can do is pray. Prayer makes all the difference. God still hears the prayers of the righteous. But more importantly, He has promised to respond on behalf of those who pray. He declares that He can hear the cries of His own from heaven. However, if God hears prayers in heaven, it is assumed that someone on earth is praying. The church has a monumental assignment. I encourage every pastor, every church, and every individual to make prayer their priority. Yes, the culture is in transition, but if things are going to change, it will require the prayers of God’s people. Let us believe God to pour out His Spirit on the church today. But more importantly, let us pray to believe God to do what He has promised He would do. And may the people of God be committed to praying that all humanity would humble themselves before the Lord. Then God will not only hear our prayers but forgive our sins and heal our lands.
