Culture in Transition Pt. 5

POLITICS

My mentor, Dr. Myles Munroe, said, “that everything hinges on leadership. Nothing begins without leadership, and nothing is accomplished without leadership. Leadership is a necessary part of all life. Leadership is always required, but there are times when it is essential. It was stated before and must be repeated—Culture is in transition! Culture will forever suffer from instability when there is no leader. Everybody cannot lead. It makes no difference what party you represent. Every party cannot lead at the same time. There must be a leader regardless of the context if the nation is to experience success.

Sadly, this present culture continues to suffer. Suffering will always be a problem when there is a leadership vacuum. The need for leadership is so critical that there are times when any leader looks good. But let me remind you that leadership is more than looks. A true leader must be proven. A true leader must know the Leader of leaders.

Joshua 5:13-15 states:

“Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, Are you for us or for our enemies? (14) Neither, he replied, but as commander of the army of the Lord, I have now come. Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, What message does my Lord have for his servant? (15) The commander of the Lord’s army replied, Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy. And Joshua did so.”

If there is one thing that this present culture needs, it is a visitation from the Lord! We need leadership that can recognize their need for help. Joshua was under the command of the Lord to lead God’s people into the promised land. One prerequisite to this command was that the Israelites had to defeat the people possessing the land if they were to claim it as their own. There will always be chaos when leaders lack a visitation from the Lord.

As the church, we must pray that our leaders experience a visitation from the Lord. The church must believe God to give our leadership a revelation of direction. But more importantly, may our leaders have an encounter with God realizing that the ground they stand on is also holy ground. The church must pray for our leaders to discern that God is not on man’s side. Instead, God is on the side of all men. God does not want anyone to perish. May the church lead by example by falling facedown and petitioning God for a due word in this season.

There is only one response required to win the battles ahead. And, I can assure you that the battle is not over. If there was ever a time that the church needs to pray, it is now.

“This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
